The new full trailer reveals a lot of new details about the sixth season of the Expanse. In it we saw Cara on Laconia as she looked at what she calls a “dog”. This is an adaptation of the novella “Strange Dogs” and it had some fans thinking it meant that they were setting things up for future seasons or movies.

As of now when Season 6 on Prime Video is over the TV series as we know it will end. The war for Sol System against the Free Navy is underway, and that part of the story is what the show will be focused on when The Expanse returns for its final season on December 10, 2021.

This season 6 preview video explains what the addition of Strange Dogs means for the story, and why they would add it if there were no plans to continue the series at this time. The writers have said the series was on pause, but there have been no further announcements on plans to film books seven through nine.

The Expanse Season 6 will be coming back to Amazon Prime Video for a six episode final season releasing weekly. The shorter season will mean a quicker pace, and it looks like things will get intense. The new promo features the crew of the Rocinante. James Holden (Steven Strait), Amos Burton (Wes Chatham), Naomi Nagata (Dominique Tipper), Clarissa Mao (Nadine Nicole), and Bobbie Draper (Frankie Adams). We also see Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo) who is plotting to strike back at Marco Inaros (Keon Alexander) who is continuing to attack Earth.

The sixth and final season of The Expanse picks up with the solar system at war, as Marco Inaros and his Free Navy continue to launch devastating asteroid attacks on Earth and Mars. As the tensions of war and shared loss threaten to pull the crew of the Rocinante apart, Chrisjen Avasarala makes a bold move and sends former Martian Marine Bobbie Draper on a secret mission that could turn the tide. Meanwhile in the Belt, Drummer and what’s left of her family are on the run and hunted for betraying Marco. And on a distant planet beyond the Rings, a new power begins to rise.

The Expanse series stars Steven Strait, Dominique Tipper, Wes Chatham, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Cara Gee, Frankie Adams, Keon Alexander, Nadine Nicole, and Jasai Chase Owens reunite for the most epic season yet. The sixth season will debut on Friday, December 10th with the first episode and continue weekly for six weeks, with the series finale on January 14, 2022.
