Описание: In this Math History lecture on Greek Mathematics (Part 2), we continue into the second period—moving through Plato and his school toward Euclid. Topics include Democritus and atomism, early scientific explanations from Anaxagoras, Hippocrates of Chios and early geometry, Plato’s Academy and the Platonic solids, Aristotle’s logic and approaches to knowledge, and Aristarchus’ heliocentric model. We also break down Euclid’s Elements, the five postulates (including the parallel postulate), why it can’t be proven, and how it connects to non-Euclidean geometry—plus a clear example of the Euclidean algorithm for GCD. This sets up the transition into Greek Mathematics (Part 3) next.
