Oddly enough, despite being quite close to the city of Chicago, this concert at the Rosemont Horizon is the only leg 1 show of U2's "Joshua Tree" Tour in the Cicago area. They would make up for this by playing three nights in late October and additionally, tonight's audience gets treated to a setlist packed with great stuff: "Trip Through Your Wires" remains the show's third song, "Exodus" gets snippeted in empowering fashion and the rarely performed "Springhill Mining Disaster" and "Mothers of the Disappeared" are also played at this show with the additional return of "Gloria", being the spiritual replacement of "The Electric Co." it seems. Despite this, the performance tonight feels a bit lacklustre at points, at least compared to the great nights across California that preceded the final stretch of shows at the East Coast. Nonetheless, Bono's magnificent voice, the very enthusiastic audience and the great setlist still make for a very pleasant listen on one of the best recordings of the entire tour, so I'd still suggest you to give the show a chance. Maybe it will do more for you!
