Some of you asked why we took our queer family of five to Malaysia - a place that's highly anti-LGBTQ+... A fair question!

Despite the political climate, it's a special place with ancestral roots we want Rupert and the girls to feel proud of. Even when there's a darker part of the culture that's not something to be proud of...

This is not about saying one culture is better or worse than another - it's about understanding that different societal frameworks exist in different contexts.

Can you feel the good parts of your culture without condemning everything? Can you feel cultural pride without feeling TOTALLY proud?
