The ASHEEP & BEEF grower group, with support from cattle veterinarian Dr Enoch Bergman of Swans Veterinary Services, are delivering three MLA-funded Producer Demonstration Site projects focused on cattle production:
1. Utilising heifer pre-mating serology to manage BVDV: Measuring a heifer’s immune status to Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus, allowing investment in the best intervention.
2. Preventing bull preputial breakdown by vaccination: Attempting to reduce the incidence and severity of balanoposthitis in virgin bulls through targeted vaccination.
3. Optimising age of weaning cattle: Measuring the impact of weaning two months earlier on both calves and their dams.
The projects began in December 2023 and will soon be entering their third and final year, with the results from the first two years coming together.
In this webinar, hear an update and findings to date from the project’s facilitator, Dr Enoch Bergman, along with demonstration site host producers Ryan Willing (Carnigup), Simon Fowler (Chilwell Farms) and Nick Ruddenklau (Epasco).
