GDL (Geometric Description Language)
📐 GDL (Geometric Description Language) is a specialized programming language used to describe and generate 2D and 3D geometric objects and structures.
🏢 It was developed by GRAPHISOFT (a Hungarian company) for their ArchiCAD BIM (Building Information Modeling) software, with ArchiCAD itself being founded by Gábor Bojár in 1982.
📝 GDL is a BASIC-like language that allows architects and designers to create parametric library parts (like windows, doors, furniture).
🚀 These objects are "intelligent" – their 2D and 3D representations are linked and adjust parametrically, providing correct visualizations across different views (plan, section, 3D). GDL enhances design accuracy and efficiency by translating complex geometric concepts into precise, programmable formats within the BIM environment.
