This video was filmed several months ago. This was after I pulled the motor from my dad's C1500 and got it torn down enough to reveal that the pistons were all bad!
I honed up all the cylinders with a ball hone, and they all cleaned up nicely! I used a bore gauge to verify that the cylinders were NOT too badly egged out, so they do not need to be bored. I'm using moly coated rings to ensure proper seating, as chrome rings will not seat in cylinders that are not perfectly straight top to bottom.
I have an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold for this thing, paired with a Holley 650 carburetor. I bought a 14" Edelbrock air cleaner to go with it as well! They look real nice put together.
My grandpa provided an HEI distributor in exchange for some work. I bought a new cap, a new rotor, and a new coil to make the distributor brand new. I also replaced the pickup coil after a resistance test found it to be bad.
I pressed the pistons off the rods, then took the rods to a machine shop (where I now work, funnily enough). They got me some new hypereutectic pistons, and assembled them on the rods for me.
