Unravel from Tokyo Ghoul (Live Piano Duet version!)

Описание: Here is our first live concert performance of Unravel from the anime Tokyo Ghoul! We played a Halloween program at ‪@CapilanoUniversity‬ in North Vancouver in October, and this was one of the highlights!

-- Some notes on the arrangement and performance--
The abrupt rests in the vocal line are an essential part of the expressive nature of the song, so we highlighted that in the opening section, as well as a few sudden pauses later on 1:01 and 2:26.

We had fun turning the infamous "Wall" from Animenz’s arrangement into a jumble of hand crossings in both of our parts! (0:27)

One of our favorite moments is the buildup to TK screaming “Unraveling the world!” at 1:56. The repetition of the same musical phrases over and over in this song (for example ”Ugokenai" - "I'm unable to move" 1:49) to build up to a climax is a very classical composition technique, commonly used in Beethoven’s music.

The section right after features filler passages in the primo part in an improvisational style. The final chorus at 3:21 is now a third above its original pitch, giving it an unfamiliar but still recognizable feel.
