Since the Mayambula males took control of the Sweni Lion Pride and chased the three Sweni Pride males into exile around January 2024, their four young sons born into the Sweni Pride started their nomadic life in search of their own pride.
They were often seen on the Sweni Plains between the Sweni River and Nkaya Pan on the H1-3 before starting their journey northwards in the direction of Satara Rest Camp in Kruger National Park.
On the 8th of June 2025, the four young brothers were spotted on the H6 east of Satara, very close to the area where Casper the White Lion and his brother Mfowethu were last seen. And to make things more interesting is the fact that the two Ngotso South/S90 males with their coalition partner, the blond Nsemani male, were now in control of the Satara Pride not far from where the four young Sweni males were spotted.
Then recently we spot one of the young Sweni brothers close to Nsemani Dam on the H7 about ten kilometres from Satara. He was in the company of a Nsemani pride lioness. This will be great news if these four young males can take control of the Nsemani Lion Pride.
After the passing of the great senior Mbiri and his partner Rockfig, Casper the White Lion and his three Shishangaan brothers spent some time with the Nsemani Pride before the two Nkaya males chased them back to Satara.
Cut Nose, one of the Nkaya males, was not seen for a long time and is probably dead. The remaining brother stayed with the Nsemani pride for some time and fathered many offspring, but old age caught up with him, and he also probably died recently.
For that reason, it would be great if the four young Sweni brothers would take control of the pride and secure great fresh genes to secure the future of this beautiful lion pride.
