Описание: Ruth is a foreigner. Yet in a moment of crisis, she makes a decision to go with her Mother-in-Law, Naomi, and to her God, Yahweh, the God of Israel. So they journey to Bethlehem---the house of bread. They arrive just as the barley harvest was beginning. Earlier Naomi had left the land with her family when there was famine.

It is in one of the fields there that Ruth meets Boaz her future husband. They marry. Ruth becomes the great grandmother of David. And in the line of David is born Jesus the Messiah, the Redeemer and the Holy One of Israel.

In this short story, the journey of Ruth unfolds. Her decision to find shelter under the wings of the God of Israel was life-changing. So too, the decisions that we make for God, can be life-tranforming.

Ruth's words to Naomi are a classic: "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me." (Ruth Chapter 1 Verses 16 and 17 NIV 1984.)
