A U.S. federal court has ordered the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to release records related to United States v. Bola Ahmed Tinubu (Forfeiture Proceedings, Northern District of Illinois, 1993).
According to Daily Trust, Tinubu forfeited $460,000 to the U.S. government in 1993 after authorities linked the funds to proceeds of narcotics trafficking. The issue later featured prominently at Nigeria’s Presidential Election Petition Court. President Tinubu has denied wrongdoing.
