2025 MEF Band Camp, Middle School Low Brass Ensemble AND Symphonic Band

This kid amazes me with her music memory...

Annie was a little apprehensive about going to the MEF Band Camp... there's an audition process, which is reading music and playing the pieces... Because of her #StargardtsDisease and being legally blind, she can no longer read music, but her brother Daemion kept urging her to do it.

After speaking with the Camp Director, Carol Mellis, she asked... what accommodations does she need, how does she learn? Since she learns by ear, it threw a wrench into the normal audition process...

She made the needed accommodations.. which were..
Send all the music to Daemion... lol

The audition pieces were sent to Daemion... which he recorded for Annie to listen to, to learn... and he worked with her on them... She then had to play them, by memory, and record them for the audition...

Even though she's only played the Euphonium for about 1½ years, with only 1 year in an actual class at school, she made it to the High School Symphonic Band..

Carol then sent all the music for the Symphonic Band to Daemion, which he recorded for Annie, and again, worked with her on them...

Not only did she have to memorize all the music for the Symphonic Band, but she was also part of the Low Brass Chamber Ensemble, which she did NOT get the music for early... BUT..... Daemion was her instructor...
