Three years ago I made a video highlighting poor quality Sorels which were made in China. In this video I show old school Sorels back when they were made by Kaufman, an over 93 year old Ontario-based rubber and boot manufacture which went bankrupt in 2000. That dates these boots from the 90's most likely. Noteworthy features of higher quality include: beautiful and thick full grain pull up leather, tough brass eyelets, chain stitching, and overall attention to detail current lacking in the now Columbia owned Sorels. I also expand on my ideas of the ethics of supporting local manufacturing and how that can compliment innovation that sometimes happens overseas, as I showed in my last video on Grant Stone Boots. This video is a bit of a late follow-up, but considering that Canadian Sorels can still be found, I think it is of interest both for the thrifty and for those who miss the "good old days" of Made-in-Canada Sorels.
