I really hope this processes properly, nothing worse than the fast sections being nothing but large pixels around the sides.
WARNING:
1.The nice comfy spring loaded gel seat on your bicycle is good for about 30 miles, after that remove it, throw it in a ditch, and sit on the bare stem. It'll work out far less painful.
2. Sam and I are professional idiots, please do not copy our stupidity and always wear helmets.
3. Buy a doughnut shaped cushion for when you return home...
Before I start waffling I want to say a massive thank you to Sam and Mary. A 500 mile round trip not including the 100 miles across Devon, just to keep me company. Plus if it hadn't been for Sam I'd still be at the halfway point (I really wasn't in a good place).
This trip was both brutal and beautiful in equal measures. The 'usual' route across Devon is the Two Moors Way, which really has little appeal to me. This route however takes in lanes, tracks, old railway lines and postcard pretty villages steeped in history.
The first day took us into the eye, earlobe and mouth of the storm force winds, the first few hours were horrendous. Happily the rain abated, even if the wind didn't, it did blow us dry though. The second day was much better, less windy and although a little hillier much faster paced.
We both rode American bikes, so it seemed appropriate to end our journey at the Mayflower Steps where the Pilgrim Fathers launched for the New World. Sam rode a Surly (unlike him) and I rode a GT....my next American machine with a GT sticker will have an engine...and be more reliable.
