Australian/American coverage (commentators: Steve Woodward, JoJo Starbuck)
from US Skating Magazine (https://skatingmagazine.usfigureskati... ): Figure skating history was made at the Boston Garden on October 31, 1993. Jim Spence of Sports Television International invited all Winter Games figure skating gold medalists to appear in IBM Skates of Gold, a remarkable celebration of figure skating excellence. The show was divided into four segments: dance, ladies, pairs, and men, and featured both cameo appearances by early medalists and performances by recent winners. The skaters were presented chronologically within each event, and introduced with a career synopsis which included a photo or video clip shown on huge screens hanging over center ice.
First to be presented was the winner of the first Olympic medal given for ice dancing: Aleksandr Gorshkov, who won in Innsbruck in 1976 with the late Ljudmila Pakhomova, representing the former Soviet Union. Also making a cameo appearance were 1980 gold medalists Natalia Linichuk and Gennadi Karponosov, also of the former Soviet Union.
Opening the skating portion of the evening were 1984 winners Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean of Great Britain, followed by Russians Natalia Bestemianova and Andrei Bukin (1988) and Marina Klimova and Sergei Ponomarenko (1992).
