In this video I'll be taking a look at three awesome Spring Reverb units from Surfy Industries.

The three units I'll be taking a look at are all based off the classic Fender 6G15 Reverb Unit. The owner of Surfy Industries used his own 1963 6G15 to design the SurfyBear Reverbs.

The Surfybear Classic is the most authentic. This is a non true bypass unit built into a wooden chassis, covered in tolex. This unit does colour your tone by trimming off some high end, just like the vintage units would. The tubes have been replaced with JFET transistors which makes the unit extremely lightweight while still maintaining that tactile, harmonically rich feel. The reverb comes from an Accutronics Type 4 Reverb Pan.

The Surfybear Metal is the exact same circuit, housed in a metal casing. This unit is true bypass and also has an additional master volume with a clean boost built in so you can really dial it into your rig with zero signal loss.

The Surfybear Compact is a smaller, pedalboard friendly spring reverb unit with a pair of footswitches allowing you to switch between two different wet/dry mixes to give you two different reverb flavours. This unit, being smaller, runs off the Accutronics Type 8 Reverb Pan, rather than the bigger Type 4.

In the video I am using my 1983 Tokai Goldstat Strat which is loaded with a set of Righteous Sound Redwood Pickups. The guitar is plugged into the Kool Amplification Blue Sky which is mic'd with a Lewitt Audio LCT440 Condenser Mic. The drive in the video comes from the Ceriatone Centura.
