I myself an new to steelhead fishing despite growing up on the river and fishing a lot as a child. Michigan fishing is in my blood but steelhead fishing is mysterious and different. It is mostly just colder and requires driving further unless you know every trick. I spend a lot of time steelhead fishing on the grand river in the lansing area without a lot of success but have caught one in lansing and seen a few more steelhead in lansing however the steelhead population on the Grand River certainly gets better the further you go west or downstream to Lake Michigan. I fish the Grand River from lansing all the way to Grand Rapids for all species of fish available including the illusive and powerful Michigan Steelhead.
