Hiking Trail

Описание: Among the many natural features of the Ozark National Forest in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas USA, is the huge stone arch that forms a natural bridge at Alum Cove National Recreation Trail. The natural arch is all that remains of what was a quartz sandstone cave. The arch is 130 feet long and 20 feet wide. Along the 1.1 mile loop trail, besides the very impressive natural bridge, we find rock bluffs, a cute little stream & a couple small but very neat & entertaining caves. One round opening in a cave was the perfect size for a Thanksgiving Day Meditation Session.

On the way back to southern Missouri at the end of a 2 week road trip to the gulf coast I found myself alone at 7am on Thanksgiving morning in the well maintained parking lot at Alum Cove Natural Bridge Recreation Area. It was a crisp 35 degrees so the hiking shoes go on and we are off down the train to keep warm! Even though this trail was only a 1.1 mile loop there were over 2 hours spent here. It was a beautiful, crisp & sunny Thanksgiving morning and was a great start to a day that involved 8 hours of hiking and walking and about 7 hours of driving.
