Join me for a first-person walking tour of Park Lime Pits Nature Reserve in Rushall, Walsall (WS4) — a hidden local gem not far from Aldridge. This was our playground in the 1980s: rope swings, blackberry picking, and exploring the old lime pit pools. In this vlog I test a new OM4/Osmo gimbal, head down the rebuilt steps to the water, point out old fishing pegs, and follow the paths up to the canal by the gates.
Highlights you’ll see:
The old rope swing/Tarzan rope area (no swimming signs still about)
Paths and wooden steps down to the pools
Fishing pegs, summer surface activity, and pike memories
Blackberry bushes, streams/mesh walkways, and fallen trees
The canal (“the cut”), car park area, and nearby pubs (Manor Arms / The Boat)
Local lore: magic mushroom fields (psilocybin) in nearby farmer’s fields (for info only)
Personal memories and what the site was like in winter
If you’ve got memories of Park Lime Pits (rope swing stories, fishing tales, family walks), drop them in the comments — I’ll feature the best in a future video. I’ll also be revisiting Linley Wood in Aldridge soon for a 1980 vs today throwback.
