[OUTDATED] A Possible Way To Bypass Steam's New Credit Card Verification in the UK?

I believe (as of 30th August 2025) I have discovered a potential way of bypassing the use of a credit card on Steam for UK users. I do not know if anyone else has tried this, but as far as I know, there have been NO mentions of it anywhere online/on any social platforms such as reddit. + The video clears up some misinformation at the start for those overseas who've read about this.

If you live in the UK and do give it a go, please let me know if this method still works (i.e. if Wishlisted games can still be purchased via Debit card) as something I believe this easy to do can't fly under the radar at Valve right?

As many have stated in their videos covering Steam's response to the O.S.A, a vast quantity of people in the UK simply do not own a credit card but are over 18, alienating many in the country. While it certainly sucks, it's honestly the best and least invasive thing Valve could've done, as there are much worse options (e.g Photo I.D). I'm not sure whether this loophole was intentionally put there by Valve, but it does seem strange how only the store pages are censored and not flagged them/removed the games from user's wishlists. Not gonna complain about that obviously.

I have a couple other possible outcomes for viewing the 'Adult Only' category on Steam. If you CANNOT view that category at all, it could be that the preferences (when they were still freely available to tick for UK users) were not set before the crackdown went into force.

Regarding games on your wishlist, I'm fairly confident that still would work as of this video's upload date in order for you to purchase, plus if you have a friend with a game on their wishlist that is now censored, you can definitely still wishlist it onto yours if you can't do so from the mentioned category of games in the previous paragraph.

Again, the subject of buying Adult Only Steam games is correct as of 30th August 2025, but I have checked and it is still possible to wishlist these games as of 3th September 2025.

Just to go on record if anyone asks, YES I am over the age of 18 and was when I purchased the game to test my method. All the games I used were merely EXAMPLES. I am NOT advertising them AT ALL, nor do I condone those under 18 buying them one bit. After all, it is PARENTS who should be monitoring what their kids play, not companies or the government!

As I say in the video, if this video blows up (in a godly unlikely scenario) I would appreciate people not to draw to much attention to it so this loophole stays open, but I am still all for letting people know about this.

P.S I mumble and trip over my words a bit because I had no sleep and it was 5 am so I had to lower my voice. I may consider adding subtitles if necessary haha 😵‍💫💫. Furthermore, I genuinely have ZERO editing experience and I used a free program to censor the video where necessary, so I apologise if it is a bit rough, as it is the first video I have actually used editing software for.

UPDATE: I am now aware of another way that involves launching Steam via SteamDB, which is probably easier than this and is better to find specific games, but the primary method I cover does not require any downloading to be done.
