Welcome back to our Sonoma series — and to one of the most iconic vineyards in California.

In this episode, Ricky and I meet up with Morgan & Chris Twain-Peterson of Bedrock Wine Co., along with their viticulturist Jake Neustadt, to walk through the legendary Bedrock Heritage Vineyard. This is the heart of Bedrock — a field blend of dozens of varieties planted in the 19th century by two men who would go on to become Civil War generals.

From the staggering diversity of grapes to the deep historical roots to the regenerative farming practices that keep these old vines thriving, this episode is a masterclass in what makes truly living vineyards so rare. And to close out the visit, Chris pops a bottle of their Zinfandel-based, old-vine sparkling wine — a perfect toast to a place that’s seen more than a century and a half of California wine history.

We also discuss plans to visit Evangelho Vineyard, another historic, sandy-soil old-vine site that takes the story even further.
