This series is a tutorial on designing and modeling an acoustic guitar in Fusion 360. The guitar features a radiused top and bottom, a variable geometry fretboard, a variable headstock angle, and a variable heel angle. The model is highly detailed with over 90 external components.
This is Part 5 and it covers modeling the radiused top. Part 6 will cover modeling the bottom and sides. Then we'll assemble the top, sides, and bottom into a body. Future Parts will cover modeling the kerfed linings, top and bottom bracing, side braces, and heel and tail blocks. Finally, we'll assemble all the components into a complete dreadnought guitar. I may follow up after that with how I modeled frets, strings, saddle, nut, and the bridge.
Part 1 covers the parameter list used to model the guitar and the fretboard design and model.
Part 1a is a quick solution to radiused fret slots on exposed tangs
Part 1b is a fully parametric design change for radiused fret slots
Part 2 covers the design and model of the neck body and headstock.
Part 2a is some clarification on the neck and fretboard
Part 3 covers the design and model of the heel transition.
Part 4 covers the remaining details of the neck.
Part 5 covers the radiused top
Part 5a is a better way to sketch the top
Part 5b is a proof of concept on the geometry we created for the top and bottom
Part 6 covers the radiused bottom
Part 7 covers the sides and assembling the body
Part 8 covers the heel and tail blocks
Future Parts will cover the design and model of all the body components and the assembly of all the components into a complete dreadnought guitar.
