Saying he was the "best-qualified" the Fayette County Commission voted unanimously to hire McDonough City Attorney Scott Bennett as the new in-house county attorney. The Commission opted to call a Special Called Meeting at 8 a.m. on Friday morning rather than wait for the regular Thursday meeting.
Bennett represented Commissioner Eric Maxwell when he sued the county regarding the sign ordinance. Maxwell sued when he was cited for posting more signs than the ordinance at that time allowed.
