"My name is Peyton Brown and I am so excited to be Miss North Carolina Teen USA 2020! I live in Dunn, North Carolina and I am the oldest of three sisters. I also have a sneaky Boxer bulldog named Bella. Both of my parents are in the medical field; my dad is a podiatrist and my mom is a nurse practitioner. I am currently a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I am a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. I am majoring in Biology and my future career plans include attending dental school and opening up my own dental practice someday. Some hobbies I enjoy are drawing, shopping, modeling, and riding my four-wheeler. During high school, I cheered and played varsity soccer all four years. I love to sing and have been studying voice for seven years. Loving all things fashion, I had the opportunity to model for Jovani at the World of Prom in Atlanta. I am an advocate and public speaker for my social initiative platform C.A.R.E. About Domestic Violence, Changing Attitudes Requires Everyone. One of my goals for this year is to educate youth on the importance of self-love, respect, and promoting healthy relationships. The Finale for Pageant week, will be with my good friend, former coach and Miss NC USA 1998 Vera Morris. Vera Morris is currently residing in Cary, North Carolina. She is a Consultant at Yardi Systems, Inc., Raleigh, North Carolina and a part time Model. Vera is the daughter of Willie and Glessa Morris, of Nashville, North Carolina.
"Vera graduated from Northern Nash Senior High School in 1993. She received her Associates of Arts degree in 1995, from Peace College in Raleigh, North Carolina. And a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication in 1998, from the University of Georgia.
Vera fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming Miss North Carolina USA in 1998. She was awarded the Miss Congeniality award at the televised, Miss USA 1998 pageant. Throughout her reign she received modeling and acting opportunities and appeared on The Wheel of Fortune. In 2019, Vera began motivational speaking about Mental Health Awareness, based upon her experiences dealing with, and overcoming depression and anxiety. She wants to continue to raise awareness about the importance of mental wellness. Vera also became an Ambassador for Susan G. Komen, in which she would raise awareness about breast cancer, and speak at events. Early in 2018, Vera began modeling again. In 2008, Vera was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. She became an advocate for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, where she raised over $9,000.00. Her hopes are to not only continue raising money, but to continue reaching out and helping make Crohn's Disease something more widely talked about. Recently, Vera was appointed to be on the Advisory Board for SOAR Outreach, a non-profit that distributes hygiene kits to homeless and low-income kids in over 27 Wake County Schools. In April 2018, she joined Models for Charity, which involves raising money through fashion. On April 3, 2019, Vera signed with Marilyn’s Agency in Greensboro, NC.She has modeled for Uniquely U Bridal, Sophie and Mollies Boutique, The Root Collective, Roses Department Store, and Thomas Lee Sheets, Inc. to name a few. She has also modeled in several fashion shows, including North Carolina Fashion Week, and Raw Artist Fashion Show in NYC. Vera has graced the cover of International Face Magazine, Kosen Magazine, and Cary Living Magazine. She has appeared in commercials for Blue Cross Blue Shield, and the Town of Cary. She is currently a Brand Ambassador for Autumn and Avery Boutique, and Reveal Cosmetics, and is the reigning Miss Cary for America 2020."
