(outdated, see description) How to play 5.1 YouTube videos in real discrete 5.1 sound with PotPlayer

1. Set your Speaker Output as 5.1.
2. Open the YouTube URL from the video that has 5.1 sound in PotPlayer (copy link and press Ctrl+U or Ctrl+V on PotPlayer).
3. Change the streaming quality (lower right). For the newer PotPlayer version, you need to select a video quality AND an audio quality. First, select any video quality that ends with "avc, video". Then select the audio quality that ends with "mp4a, audio or ec-3 audio". For the version shown in this video, just select an option that starts with "— Video".
4. Press tab key to view the codec information. As you can see, you get AAC or DD+ 384kb/s, 44.1 or 48 kHz 6 channel sound.

If you're using S/PDIF and you're only getting stereo, try Audio/Output Mode/Pass-through after AC-3 re-encoding.
