The Holy Apostle Soup Kitchen - the largest soup kitchen in New York City - is feeding over a thousand people this Christmas Eve.
It is all part of the Christmas season effort to take care of the homeless.
The Holy Apostle church feeds people everyday - but on Christmas Eve, it is also handing out clothing and gloves to the street people.
The kitchen's volunteers use some 100 turkeys, hundreds of gallons of cranberry sauce, potatoes and carrots.
There are more than 70 people who came to help out this time around.
The church also hands out little "care packets" - consisting of tooth brushes, combs and health care products.
The Holy Apostle Soup Kitchen has been offering this service for some 16 years and since that time has provided more than four (m) million meals.
They operate on a budget of one and a half (m) million U-S dollars, most of which consist of checks of 20 and 30 U-S dollars.
Those that come to help say that helping the hopeless has become an integral part of their Christmas.
