Three buses exploded in central Israel on Thursday in what officials described as a “suspected terror attack”, as the prime minister instructed the military to start an “intense operation” in the West Bank.

Police said that three bombs exploded, while devices on two other buses failed to detonate. The incident took place near the city of Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv, leaving no casualties.
Tzvika Brot, the mayor of Bat Yam, said it was a miracle that no one was hurt, adding that the targeted buses had finished their routes and were in a parking lot in Bat Yam and one in Holon.
The devices were intended to detonate on Friday when the buses were in service, according to Haaretz newspaper.
Haim Sargarof, Tel Aviv’s police chief, described the five identical explosive devices as “like something [that originated] in the West Bank”.
