Описание: Following an introduction by Professor Jane Davidson, Chair of the Creativity and Wellbeing Hallmark Research Initiative at the University of Melbourne, Dr Frederic Kiernan outlines and presents the progress of his 3-year loneliness-focused research as a Melbourne Postdoctoral Fellow, which he commenced this year. As he explains, Kiernan plans to enrich understandings of how music may help ameliorate loneliness among LGBTQIA+ people by examining how music mediates social connection at queer "scene" events in Victoria, Australia. Kiernan considers the theoretical impetus for the research, including the sometimes problematic intersections between queer theory and current research on loneliness and social connection. Methodological concerns and the importance of the multi-method approach being used are discussed.
