This vid is for Effie and all the other guys who have asked me to make a tutorial for this process. If you make it to the very end there's a short clip on how to tie the knots used.
The idea is to use parachute cord to tie a combination of a double-reeved versatackle variation and an icicle hitch and use it as a come-along on long, low spans of aerial drop service wire.
For this process I normally use a 15 foot length of cord which is always in my pouch when I do drop work. Parachute cord is cheap and versatile, available in any army supply or hardware store.
Sorry for the shakiness as I tried to show the process while filming with a cell phone with one hand while perched mid-span on a 28' ladder.
