In this video we make a 40-10 meter EFHW antenna. This antenna uses a 66ft radiator and a 17ft counterpoise. But the real magic is on the inside. An EFHW antenna has a nominal impedance of 2450 ohms. All transceivers want to see a 50ohm impedance. Well, we need a transformer. In this case it's a 49:1 autotransformer made with a #43 mix 2 in toroid.
