He was shot three times in the head in his Brooklyn basement apartment on July eighteenth, nineteen eighty-four, while his teenage girlfriend slept in the next room. They shot her too. She was sleeping. She never woke up.
The frozen meat truck? That actually happened. But it happened to a completely different man. A con artist named Richard Eaton, who laundered Lufthansa money through Florida restaurants, skimmed from the proceeds, and paid for that decision with his life. His body was found hogtied and frozen solid in a refrigerated truck. In the lining of his coat: Jimmy Burke's home phone number. That phone number helped put Burke in prison for life.
