Charles G. Widdén, a popular Swedish-American singer, does a Swedish interpretation of a 1911 Irving Berlin hit, recorded in 1916. The title, Våran Bal, translates to 'Our Ball'. The Swedish lyrics translate differently from the English lyrics. If any Swedish speaker wants to give a shot at transcribing and translating it, leave a comment down below.

Irving Berlin had a nearly 60 year long career that cemented him as the King of Popular Songs. Whether he was writing a Tin Pan Alley ragtime tune or a sentimental jazz ballad, he could always be trusted to compose a simple, yet memorable melody or set of lyrics. 'Alexander's Ragtime Band', 'Ragtime Violin', 'When I Lost You', and 'When the Midnight Choo Choo Leaves for Alabam'' would be enough to set him apart, but those are just some of his early ones. His jazz classics, 'Puttin' on the Ritz', 'Cheek to Cheek', 'I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm', 'God Bless America', 'Happy Holidays', and 'Blue Skies' are still widely known today. But most significantly, he wrote perhaps one of the most popular songs of all time, 'White Christmas'. He wrote hundreds more jazz standards, but there is no room here to list them all.
Irving Berlin would die in 1989 at the age of 101.
