Dr. Waharalagama Appuhamilage Quitun Wilfred Wijesinghe (MBBs, MRCP, FCCP) popularly known as Dr. Wijesinghe was born on the 17th February 1942. He was educated at Veyangoda Central College and the 4th student selected for the Medical Faculty, Colombo through free education system in Sri Lanka. Then onwards he started soaring up in the medical field initially doing his post graduate education in Great Britain and was awarded MRCP. He was also awarded with FCCP by Medical Council of Sri Lanka for his great service to the medical field.

His services at the Gampaha Base Hospital and Homagama Government Hoaspital from 1979 to 1985 as a specialist Medical Physician need praiseworthy . Later he resigned from the government service with the view to opening a Private Hospital “Nawaloka” which was at that time a long - felt need. The financial assistance by his beloved father-in-law Late Deshamanya Deshabandu H.K. Dharmadasa, popularly known as Nawaloka Mudalali needs special mention.

The younger daughter of Late Mr. H.K. Dharmadasa, Mrs. Priyani Wijesinghe is his beloved wife and they are blessed with three children. The two sons following the foot path of the father are now renowned Consultant Physicians - eldest Harindu Wijesinghe being a Rhematologist while the younger Chamara Wijesinghe a Psychiatrist and a Senior Lecturer Ragama Medical College. The only daughter- Sayuri Wijesinghe is an eminent IT Engineer and he is very fortunate to see his own and seven Grand Children doing well in life.

His keen interest as the General Manager of Nawaloka Hospital to upgrade standard of the hospital paved the way to its clients to enjoy all the modern facilities that are available in highly developed countries. He is the person who introduced CT Scanner, Intensive Care Unit and the Accidental Care Unit to the private hospital against the threatening atmosphere of the State medical sector.
