iPhones are beautiful, from the hardware to the software. But what allows your iPhone to display such beautiful images? Inside your iPhone, a tiny piece of hardware called a GPU (or Graphics Processing Unit) is what gives your iPhone the power it needs to generate such beautiful visual effects.

The problem with GPUs is that they've always been power-hungry. The fancier the visual effects, the faster your iPhone battery dies. By reducing the strain on your iPhone's GPU, we can increase your battery life. In iOS 9 and later, you can accomplish everything I used to recommend in a few separate tips by changing one setting in a place you probably wouldn't think to look.
