A discussion of changes to the Franka Solida iii cameras from the 1950's. The Franka Solida 3 is a vintage 6x6 folding camera for 120 roll film which was produced from the 1930's until the 1960's. This video is a non-comprehensive yet chronological timeline of different shutters, lens changes, cosmetic changes, and the like. Basic operation of the Franka Solida 3, and an in-depth review of the Schneider-Kreuznach Radionar 80mm f2.9 lens are covered.* Mention is made of the Balda Baldax with Balda Werke Bunde Baltar 80mm f2.9 lens, which is also a Cooke-Triplet design. Image examples.
*Note: You will absolutely need a lens hood for use with the Radionar in almost any situation. This was not mentioned in the video. It is a characteristic of the Cooke Triplet lens design and results in a loss of contrast and washed-out images. It can be remedied if a long lens hood is used.
