I’ve been watching this ball’o’xenia just rotate for the past week, so I figured I'd share it with all of you. I know Xenia gets a bad reputation due to its propensity to outcompete other corals and algae, but you can’t deny that giant mats of it don’t look mesmerizing. Xenia might not be great for a display tank (I’m trying to remove mine right now), but it does seem to have use in a sump. I’ve read a lot about people trading out common macroalgae like chaeto for Xenia with similar or even better water quality readings as a result. This is probably due to Xenia's fast growth rate alongside its preference for dirty water, so it likely just pulls excess nutrients out of the water at a faster rate. I’ll try it in my new setup, I’m working on, and report back :)
