Hi Friends,
In this video, I have shown how to make halwa using Black Urad dal with use of gingely or sesame oil. It is advised to use only black urad dal for this preparation to get more health benefits of out of this receipe.
Health benefits:
1) It regulates diabetes
2) It boost bone health
3) It also helps in improving heart health
4) Also help in strengthening utreus and spine as well.
This is normally prepared and given to the young girls once they attain puberty. It is a traditional recipe which is proven that it strengthens pelvic regions and their bones.
Ingredients required:
Black Urad Dal - 1 cup
Raw rice - 1/3 cup
Palm Jaggery - 1 cup (200 gms)
Water - 1 1/2 cup
Sesame Oil - 1/2 cup
Step 1: Dry roast urad dal in medium flame until you get a nice aroma...
Step 2: In the same pan, roast the 1/3 cup of raw rice in low flame, keep stiring...
TIPS: Allow the roasted urud dal and raw rice to cool down...
Step 3: Now, add 1 1/2 cup of water and 1 cup of Palm Jaggery
Step 4: Make Urud dal & raw rice into fine grined powder using mixer grinder
Step 5: Mix urad dal & roasted rice power is ready transfer it to a bowl...
Step 6: Strain the jaggery water...
TIPS: Take 1 cup of grinded (urud dal + raw rice) powder in separate bowl and keep it ready...
Step 7: Transfer 1 cup powder to kadai & add jaggery water, stir well and make sure no lumps are found...
Step 8: Switch on the flame, and start continuosly stiring it...
Step 9: Add sesame oil and stir it well...
TIPS: Add oil as required in between
Step 10: Switch off the flame and take small amount of halwa and check for consistency...
Take small amount of halwa and try to make a ball out of it... it should come nicely and doesn't stick to your fingers...
