As the current Deputy Chief Physical Planner (2022–Present), your leadership role is pivotal in navigating the digital transformation of the physical planning profession in PNG. We are honored to feature your insights on the evolving landscape of urban planning, geospatial integration, and the future direction of planning in the country.

Mr. Edward Pulagis currently serves as the Deputy Chief Physical Planner at the Department of Lands and Physical Planning in Papua New Guinea. Appointed in 2023, he represents the new generation of planning leadership in the country, actively championing the integration of geospatial technologies, digital planning tools, and innovative policy frameworks into national development efforts.

With a strong background in urban and regional planning, Mr. Pulagis brings a forward-thinking approach to tackling the challenges of rapid urbanization, land use conflicts, and infrastructure development in both rural and urban PNG. He is a vocal advocate for youth participation, capacity-building, and the use of GIS and remote sensing in modern planning workflows. His work aims to bridge traditional planning systems with 21st-century innovations to support sustainable, inclusive, and smart urban development across the nation.
