Описание: On June 2nd, 1964, two sessions were booked at EMI's studio two. The first of which ran from about 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm and was used to start work on Lennon's "Anytime At All", but focus switched to McCartney's "Things We Said Today" at around 4 pm.

The basic rhythm tracks consisted of the four Beatles on their usual instruments; Lennon on acoustic rhythm guitar, Harrison on electric rhythm guitar, McCartney on bass and Starr on drums. Take one was a false start, however takes two and three were complete run-throughs of the song. The group decided that take three was the best and onto that they began the overdub process.

Three overdubs were recorded onto take three. These overdubs included Lennon on piano during the bridges, Starr playing tambourine during the bridges, and McCartney's double tracked vocals.

Documents suggest that the Beatles were in the studio again in the late hours June 3rd, 1964 to record "unspecified" overdubs. I assume the overdubs in question are the "open A hits" on the acoustic guitar that occur at various points in the song.

THE GUITAR PARTS:

Lennon played Harrison's 1962 Gibson J160e. As usual, his guitar work isn’t anything flashy. Throughout the verses John plays only an Am chord with exception to the bridges and choruses. The "low A hit" overdub was recorded by Lennon aswell I assume and its literally just that - striking the low A string.

Harrison used his 1963 Rickenbacker 360/12. Throughout the verses Harrison switches between Am and G6 (which can be used in substitution of an Em chord, which I think is the case here). This contrasts nicely with Lennon only playing Am. At 0:35, Harrison plays that G6 chord but leaves the high e string open. This is the only time that happens in the song. Everything else in his part is just following the chords.
