Mui Ne – Vietnam
Have you ever left a city you loved just to find calm by the sea, and ended up with a meal you will never forget, for all the wrong reasons?
After a few full days exploring Ho Chi Minh City, it was finally time to slow down.
We packed our bags, hopped on a small luxury bus, and headed toward the coast to a quiet seaside town called Mui Ne.
The ride was smooth, comfortable, and surprisingly affordable. Less than three hours with one short food and toilet stop.

💡 Tip: Limousine buses are the best option. Reclining seats, air conditioning, and USB ports make the journey much more comfortable.
Arrival and first impressions
When we arrived, our new boutique hotel instantly felt like paradise. Palm trees, sea breeze, and hundreds of colorful fishing boats floating right in front of us.

💡 Mui Ne is famous for its traditional fishing village, where hundreds of round blue boats fill the water. An iconic coastal view.
Simple plans and good beginnings
We wanted a calm, easy day. Some rest, some editing, and good food.
The first stop could not have been better. A tiny Banh Mi stand serving warm, crispy sandwiches for almost nothing, eaten with the sound of the waves in the background.
Simple, peaceful, perfect.

💡 These small family stands often serve better bread than restaurants.
When things take a turn
Then the rain came. We stopped at another restaurant to wait it out, and that is when things went downhill.
At first, it looked busy. One huge private room filled with a group that could easily hold around six hundred people, another smaller group sitting outside, and just us.
Only one tour bus was parked when we arrived, but during the next hour, three more buses pulled up, unloading large groups of Chinese tourists heading straight in.
That is when we realized what kind of place it really was. A restaurant built for bus tours.
The food was overpriced, bland, and honestly the worst we have had so far.
Eli even got nervous about the fresh cucumber and joked that we might get food poisoning.
💡 Tip: If you see large tour groups or buses parked outside, it is usually not the place for authentic or fairly priced food. These places cook in huge batches for speed, not for flavor.
End of the day by the sea
We ended the day laughing about it, watching the rain fade over the sea from our balcony, feeling grateful for where we were.
Travel is not always perfect, but it is always real. And that is what makes it beautiful.
Rain, bad food, and spontaneous moments. That is slow travel life.
