"Article 21 of the Indian Constitution says – No person shall be deprived of his life or personal liberty except according to procedure established by law.
This means the Right to Life and Personal Liberty is guaranteed to every individual. But the Supreme Court has given it a very broad meaning.
Right to Life does not mean just animal existence – it includes the right to live with dignity, right to education, clean environment, health, privacy, shelter, livelihood and even speedy trial.
In simple words, Article 21 is the heart of the Constitution – it protects our life, liberty and dignity from arbitrary actions of the State. That’s why it is called the ‘Magna Carta of Indian Constitution’." #article21
