Описание: I sell my trusty wheels in Perth, catch a flight to Brisbane and then a ferry to Moreton Island. Then five days of baking in the sun as I beach walk my way around island to check out the wrecks and isolation. This is a fisherman’s 4x4 island. Not a backpackers destination. There is a high-end resort with fast ferry service for those with money to burn. I opted for the poor-man’s trek with my own tent and simple gear (yes more cans of baked beans). I did this hike 15 years ago and it is still off the backpacker circuit radar and according to the local fishermen, they’ed like to keep it that way.

In this episode I sell my car.
Then fly to Brisbane and then head to Moreton Is.
Moreton Island is a fisherman's or snorkelers paradise.
It's also a trekkers dream (if you like the beaches, the sun and the hardships).
The goal is to hike around the northern half of the island over a 5-day period.
I have 10 km to cover.
It looks like I'm going to lose my light.
Well, made it to my campsite & put up my tent in the dark.
Another night setting up my tent in the dark.
Yeah, I think it's day 3.
Totally, totally lost.
Made it back out.
I see the road behind me.
My afternoon objective.
I've gone 5km since this morning and I'm really tired.
And we're heading for Mt Tempest.
The highest point on Moreton Island.
Top of Moreton Island.
Mt Tempest. We are done. Woo-hoo.
But it wasn't all hiking.
Let me show you one of the many wreck snorkeling locations.
Note that some of these shallow wrecks are actually quite treacherous.
In my case I didn't pay attention until I reached the last wreckand found myself in a rip tide.
Look how far I was swept by the current.
As soon as I got past that last boat the current took me and pushed me out.
That was a long hard swim to shore.
Let's not do that again.
