#RoadToProgressNational Highway 66 (NH 66), formerly known as NH-17, is a major North-South arterial highway in India, running approximately 1,640 kilometers along the country's picturesque western coast, parallel to the Western Ghats. It begins at Panvel, near Mumbai, and extends all the way down to Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of the Indian mainland.
The highway is a crucial corridor, traversing five states: Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. In Kerala, the highway is particularly significant, passing through densely populated areas like the Thrissur district, which includes towns such as Chavakkad and Edakkazhiyur.
NH 66 is currently undergoing an extensive widening project, transforming it mostly into a six-lane access-controlled highway with service roads, flyovers, and underpasses. This massive infrastructure upgrade is designed to significantly improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and boost economic activity along the entire western seaboard."
