🇮🇷 Following the Iranian Revolution of early 1979, an uprising against the pro-west Shah of Iran led to students seizing the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in November 1979. About 50 hostages were held for 444 days. The embassy has never re-opened and now largely remains in a decrepit state and as an anti-US propaganda exhibit.
