Can you commute on a vintage single speed bike, or do you need a shiny new bike to get the job done? I found a neglected old clunker bike (not to be confused with a Klunker bike of the mountain variety.) and did minimal maintenance to make it kind of road worthy - with the intention of using it as my main commuter bike for a week/50 miles.
People make a ridiculous amount of excuses for why they can't do things. I find that detrimental to self improvement, so I'll have to deal with the problems that come with a machine of this age and just roll with it. I'm not sure if the pun was intended. You'll have to decide for yourself.
