About Joel: Joel Thompson brings over 15 years of experience in racquet sports, with a strong foundation in tennis and a growing passion for pickleball. As a junior, Joel competed at a high level in tennis, achieving a No. 2 ranking in Montana in 2021. His competitive drive and love for the sport led him to pursue a career in coaching, which began in 2018. Since then, he has taught in a wide range of settings, parks and recreation programs, country clubs, and indoor facilities, where he’s become known for his energy, technical knowledge, and ability to connect with players of all levels.
After graduating from Montana State University, Joel relocated to Florida, where he now coaches both tennis and pickleball at a private club in Ponte Vedra Beach. His deep understanding of stroke mechanics, court positioning, and strategic play translates seamlessly across both sports. In pickleball, Joel specializes in helping players improve their consistency, shot selection, and doubles communication. He also organizes social events, promotes member engagement, and actively works to grow the sport at the all levels.
With his dual background in tennis and pickleball, Joel brings a unique and valuable perspective to the Pickle Madness team. His enthusiasm, professionalism, and commitment to player development make him an integral part of the mission to grow racquet sports in a fun, accessible, and competitive way.
