Historically, the area was run down and considered one of the least desirable areas to live in London due to the lack of aesthetic appeal and high crime rates. These days, the area is considered safer and has gentrified somewhat with the influx of upmarket restaurants, bars and hotels. It even boasts a two Michelin star restaurant, Da Terra located off Cambridge Heath Road.

In recent years, young professionals and trendy types have been attracted to the area due to its relatively lower cost of housing, close proximity to central London and popular hangouts nearby including Shoreditch, Hoxton and Columbia Flower Market.

In the video, we focus on showing you the area within a short radius around Bethnal Green Station including the high street, Pie ‘n’ mash - a traditional East London staple, council estates, the infamous Blind Beggar pub frequented by the Kray twins in the 1960s, shops, cafes and eateries.
