"The moment that you and I are baptized; the moment we give our lives to Christ, we commit ourselves to following Him to the very end," said the Rev. Dr. Allen Robinson at Grace Church. "The Bible never says that following in the footsteps of Jesus is easy. As a matter of fact, it is terribly difficult being a Christian. Being a Christian means that we are to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, and pray for those who refuse to pray for us."
Recalling the week's difficult events, Rev. Allen added, "So much is happening happening in our world. Just like the people coming to John in the River Jordan, we now come to God and ask God to lead us and inspire us to do what is right. We cannot be afraid to stand up and be heard and be counted. This is how we live our baptismal covenant."
"To be right and true, Dr. King said it right. 'The arc of the moral universe [is long but it] bends towards justice.' It's a long arc, but ultimately justice will prevail."
