Today on our 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the CURT custom fit class three trailer hitch receiver. Part number is C13153. Now here's what your hitch is going to look like after installation. As you can see, this is a completely hidden hitch. It's going to be behind the center cover here. Now this is a class three hitch so this is going to be really versatile for you.

We've got a 2" by 2" reciever tube opening which I think is one of the most common out there. This is going to work great for ball mounts, bike racks, hitch cargo carriers, whatever it is you want to put in there. As long as it's rated for a class three, you're going to be okay with it. We've got a 5/8 diameter pinhole here. This is going to work out well with whatever class three hitch pin and clip or anti-rattle bolt, whatever you decide to use there.

You're going to have good spacing. The hitch angles backward a little bit so I think as long as you're staying on the smaller side of the locks or the bolts, this should go in there without any kind of a problem. We've got nice, large, open safety chain connection points here. Whatever safety chain style you're going to use, that should go on there very easily, be able to connect there. Now as far as towing goes, we've got a 900 pound tongue weight rating. That's the maximum downward force here we can put at our reciever tube opening.

We're going to have a 6,000 pound gross trailer weight rating. That's going to be the total weight of our trailer and then anything that we've got loaded up on it. If we move to a weight distribution setup, then we're going to keep the same 900 pound tongue weight rating but we'll extend the gross trailer weight rating up to 8,000 pounds. We do need to consult the owners manual on the Santa Fe of course though, check it out, see what it's rated for towing-wise, and go off of whichever of those numbers are the lowest. Now we've got a reinforcement collar that goes around the end of our reciever tube opening here. That gives us good durability, good strength.

It's got the flat front side of it rather than some of the other ones that have more of a rounded style. Now a few measurements that are going to be helpful in selecting your ball mount, bike rack, or hitch cargo carrier will be from the ground to the inside top edge of our reciever tube opening we've got about 16". Then from the center of our hitch pinhole to the outermost edge of our bumper it's about 4-1/2. Now for our attachment points we're going to have four on each side. You can see here and here. We're going to have an area that once where our hitch in place like this, our bolt's going to go through our hitch, which is a hole in, slide all the way through. That head of that carriage bolt engages the hitch and then a 1/2" flange nut goes on the outside. For the four holes in the bottom, two on this side, two on the other side, we're going to have an M10 bolt with a conical tooth washer. That's just going to be threaded right up into the weld nuts once our hitch is up into position, and then that's going to come up and clamp it into place. Now the first thing what we want to do is get this little cover panel off. We're going to have two Phillips screws that go into push fasteners. You just want to back those out a little bit. If we back them out far enough they're just going to slide right out. Do that on both sides of the cover. Then we can pull in on the tabs on each side there and it will come right down. We'll have a few clips there that will release as we pull it down. With our panel out of the way we're going to open up the rear hatch area, open the cover, and we want to remove the small cap here that says spare tire. Screwdriver on there will be able to back it out. That's going to expose the bolt that we want to just loosen up here to lower the spare tire. We can use our tire tool. Now we're just loosening this up. We're not going to remove it completely. Just need to move it around a little bit to get our hitch around it. Lower it down a little bit, put our tools in there. That way it will be there when we come back to raise it up. Now on our driver side you can see our alignment tab for the bumper is in the way of our hole there. What we want to do is just bend out and down on that. Just like that, it's going to give us a little bit of room to get, one, our hitch up behind it, and get our bolt to pass through. Now w
