This video is the fifth and final part of our recent #Puri tour during second week of Sept, 2020 during the post lockdown phase. In this video you will see our experience at #DhauliPeacePagoda and #Dhabaleswar temple above the #Dhauli hill.
At the footstep of the hill one can observe the preserved Ashokan Rock Edict and the Ashoka Pillar.
This peace pagoda at the top of the #Dauli hill was built in the year 1970 with the association of Japan Govt. One can view the #DayaRiver from the peace pagoda, at the bank of this river, the devastated war took place in 265 B.C between King Ashoka and army of #Utkala, it is said that, 150K people were died in the war and the color of water of Daya River became red with the blood of the soldiers.
The result of the war put down Ashoka into great remorse, he adopted Buddhism and became #Dharmashoka and became pioneer to spreed #Buddhism in the SE Asia and #Singhal (Present day #Srilanka).
